James Clifford Hundley, 83, of 1297 Snyder Hollow Lane, Bassett, VA died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at his residence. He was born on April 30, 1927 in Franklin County, VA to the late Clifford B. Hundley and Nannie Mason Hundley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Sutton and Hazel Jamison.
Mr. Hundley was a self-employed contractor but he worked and retired after 15 years of service at Nationwide Homes. He attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Martinsville, VA and served in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Hundley of the home; four daughters, Ruby Jones of Axton, VA, Robin Vaughn of Martinsville, VA (Figsboro), Rhonda Jennings of Collinsville, VA and Renee LaPrade of Martinsville, VA; one son, Ricky Hundley of Martinsville, VA (Figsboro); three step-daughters, Anita Quinlan of the home, Beth Shively of Ferrum, VA and Rhonda Couch of Deputy, Indiana; one step-son, George Quinlan of Bassett, VA; three sisters, Ethel Jamison of Martinsville, VA, Louise Stillwell of Martinsville, VA (Figsboro) and Becky Eanes of Martinsville, VA (Figsboro); three brothers, Johnny Hundley, Robert Hundley and Harry Hundley all of Martinsville, VA (Figsboro); thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Mike Eisenman officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 3785 Figsboro Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.
