Funeral On Tuesday

John Eberhardt Rites Held At First Methodist Church
It was announced late this afternoon that the funeral of John J. Eberhardt, whose death occurred Friday night in Battle Creek, Mich., will be held Tuesday afternoon at the First Methodist church. The hour is not definite but will be announced Monday.

Last Rites for John J. Eberhardt at 4 Tomorrow Afternoon -- Lies In State at Home

The funeral of John J. Eberhardt, prominent Salina business man and well known over the United States as poet-author, whose death occurred Friday evening at 8:45 in Dr. Kellogg's Sanitarium at Battle Creek, Mich., will be held at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Methodist church, with the Rev. A.G. Williamson in charge. Taken to the family home at 129 South Tenth street Tuesday morning from the Salina Funeral Home, where it was held at rest today, the body will lie in state from 9 o'clock until 12 o'clock noon tomorrow.

Mr. Eberhardt's widow, his son, John Fowler Eberhardt, and his brother, Charles Eberhardt, United States minister to Nicaragua, all of whom were with him during his final illness in Battle Creek, arrived home Sunday afternoon, accompanying the body of the man who has for the great part of his life been a familiar figure in this city's civic and business life.

Death followed only a few hours of critical illness, bronchial pneumonia developing Friday morning after Mr. Eberhardt had shown days of satisfactory recuperation from an operation of several days before that in the Michigan sanitarium. Interment will be in Gypsum Hill cemetery.
