Stanislaus County, Calif., authorities say he was killed when his car drifted over the center line and collided with a truck. He had moved to Turlock in 1980 where he was a plant manager for Peterson Manufacturing.
He was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished hunter and water skier.
Survivors include his wife, three sons, two daughters; his parents, Gladys and Albert Chaney of Weed, Calif.; three brothers, Bill and Kenneth Chaney, both of Manhattan, and Larry Chaney of Imperial Valley; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at Allen's Mortuary in Turlock. Burial will follow in Turlock Memorial Park.
