Alice M. Corman Cornelius, daughter of Henrietta "Hattie" Sparks and John Harvey Corman was born Feb 22, 1891 at Whitewater and passed away at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital at Newton on July 20, 1976 at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 28 days. During her childhood she attended the Whitewater school. She became a member of the Lutheran Church at an early age. Later the Lutheran and Reformed Church and others known as "Members at Large" united and formed the Federated Church. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Saviour and lived a consistent Christian life. On April 26, 1912 she was united in marriage to George Cornelius. This union was blessed with nine children, all of whom are living. Her family became her pride and joy. In those early years of parenthood the family experienced many trying times, crop failures and other adverse conditions which she faced without murmur or complaint but by the grace of God was always able to wear a smile...
