S2C Reynolds Enlisted into the United States Navy on 13 Jan 1942. Boarded the aircraft carrier the USS Wasp CV-7 on February 23 1942. Appeared on Muster Rolls, 23 Feb 1942, 31 Mar 1942, 30 May 1942, 30 Jun 1942, 30 Sep 1942 with an X by his name meaning that he did not survive after the ship was torpedoed and sank. He was awarded the Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. The USS Wasp took part in the battle of Guadalcanal and was beside the USS North Carolina when it was torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I-19, on September 15 1942 in the southwestern Pacific. 2247 sailors were rescued and 193 officers and enlisted were lost or baried at sea
