Juanita Fae (Williams) Murphy, 96, of California, MO passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Lawson Manor Nursing Home in Lawson, Missouri surrounded by family and caregivers. She was born on January 31, 1922, in Cooper County, Missouri, the daughter of John Tandy Williams and Eula Maye (Hill) Williams, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended a country school in Cooper County, MO and public school in Boonville, MO. She later married Carl (Tuffy) Eugene Murphy who preceded her in death on June 6, 1977 at the age of 48.

Growing up Juanita helped raise her eight younger siblings before moving to Los Angeles, California at the age of 16 with her Uncle Bernard Kline and Aunt Lena Kline. In LA Juanita worked in factories, fish canneries and later became a clothing model for several department stores. While in LA during World War II, she ironically met her husband Carl, who served in the Navy and later in the Army Reserve and was also from California, Missouri. The couple continued to live and work in LA while raising their daughter Glenna (Princess). When Juanita's mother became ill, the family moved back to California, Missouri and she took care of her mother full time until her death in 1968. Juanita worked night shift at Chesebrough Ponds (now Unilever) in Jefferson City, MO while her husband worked in construction. She also loved taking care of the couple's farm and helping raise her grandchildren and nephew until her husband's death.

Juanita moved to town and enjoyed babysitting while also caring for her father and siblings, who became ill until their deaths. She later worked part-time at Casey's and as a home health aide caring for others. Juanita was an avid letter writer, enjoyed driving her Cadillac to get her daily Coca-Cola and visit family and friends, and loved listening to Elvis and Charlie Pride. She joined the Catholic Church around 1980 and was an active member at Annunciation Church in California, Missouri.

Juanita is survived by one daughter, Glenna Diane Dake, and husband, Dale Dake, Lawson, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christie Waisner, Mexico, Missouri; Cheryl Waisner Hedge, Lawson, Missouri; Jason Dake, League City, Texas; and Lisa Bowman, Overland Park, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 pm at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California, Missouri. Sister Mary Ruth from Annunciation Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will be at California City Cemetery, California, MO.
