Lloyd and his family moved to California, Missouri, in December, 1938. They were natives of Hale, Missouri, where Lloyd had apprenticed in that town's electrical generating plant, entering a profession which would become his life's work. As utility engineer, he worked for the City of Harrisonville, Missouri, prior to taking the position of Superintendent of the municipal utilities in California. Their children, Donna, Charles, Robert and Lonnie, all attended high school at California.
