Cecil Ebey, 66, Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord at 10:18 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Effie, La., to Fred and Lillie (LaPrairie) Ebey. On July 12, 1970, in Clinton County, he married Evelyn Kendall, and she survives.
He was employed by Dana Corp., U.S. Postal Service and Lincoln Surplus. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Galveston and served as a deacon in the church and was the sound technician.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ebey, Kokomo; daughters, Anita Snyder, Kokomo, and Gayle (Michael) McDowell, Russiaville; three grandchildren, Abbigail Snyder, Jared Rothe, and Emily McDowell; brothers, Herman Ray Ebey, MD, and Joseph Ebey, Coffeeville, Ala.; and sister, Madie Bell Durham, Thorntown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clarence, Flinn Jr., and Charles; and two sisters, Annie Lee Normand, and Allie Mae Smith.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Galveston, with the Rev. Warren Purcell and the Rev. Aaron Webb officiating. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Galveston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Down Syndrome Foundation.
