John was born March 21, 1927 in Manitowoc to the late Edward H. and Francis (Sedlacek) Brey. He graduated from Manitowoc Vocational School.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and a member of the Midwest Association for the Blind.
John was employed in maintenance by J. S. Richardson Co. from 1955, until his retirement in 1993.
He enjoyed old time radio, listening to baseball, and playing his guitar.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Brey-Traas of Sheboygan; his nephew, Ronald Brey of Sheboygan, who acted as his caretaker, and many other loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Frederick, Rudolph, William, and Arnold; and his three sisters, Gretchen, Martha, and Louise.
Funeral services for John will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th St. in Sheboygan, the Reverend Joe Cottam, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery.
