Funeral services will be held Friday, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Father John Rooney officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola with a 7 p.m. rosary following at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in David City.
Joan was born Oct. 11, 1930, to Ivan and Marie (Bartek) Kobza in Brainard. The family lived in Brainard and then moved to a farm in rural David City. Joan attended Marietta Catholic School. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Omaha and graduated from there in 1948.
On Jan. 31, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald F. Bock. To this union four children were born (two boys and two girls).
Joan lived in Shelby and was employed by D & L in Columbus where she worked until her retirement.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of St. Anne's Guild.
She loved spending time with her family and baking rolls and kolaches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Marie Kobza; brother, Daniel Kobza; sister, Ramona Abbott; grandson, Blake Kelly; and niece, Cheryl Kobza.
