Pvt. Frederick Schweinsberg was an Illinois National Guardsman called to federal service as a member of B Company, 192nd Tank Battalion. At Ft. Knox, he was transferred to Hq Company when the company was created. Served in the Philippine Islands during the first battles of World War II involving American tanks. Became a Prisoner of War when Bataan was surrendered to the Japanese on April 9, 1942. He took part in the death march. It was during the death march that he died near Cabcaban.
