Funeral services for Edgar Clarence Morgan, 87, were held Wednesday, April 23, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in St. Helena. He passed away at his home in St. Helena, Monday morning, of an apparent heart attack.
Born and educated in Dover,Tennessee, he lived there until the age of 18 when he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas and he worked as a rancher. He worked as an rancher in Arizona and Oregon, and came to St. Helena in 1945 working as a real estate representative for United Farm. He also owned and operated a ranch near St. Helena, retiring in 1960.
He was a member of the Woodsman's of the World Lodge, a member of the Gideon's, and a deacon in the St. Helena Baptist Church.
Survivers include his wife Dell of St. Helena; two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Berg of St. Helena and Mrs. Beverly Alloto of Pearl River, New York; a son Charles M. Roberts of Santa Cruz; two brothers Luthur Morgan of Granite City, Illinois and Homer Morgan of Clear Lake Highlands; two sisters Mrs. Martha Oliver of St. Helena and Mrs. Bernice Oliver of St. Helena; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numberous nieces and nephews.
Reverend Lee Scott of the St. Helena Baptist Church, officiated, interment in the St. Helena Cemetery. Memorial gifts to the St. Helena Baptist Church are preferred.
