Rites Held For Oscar Anderson

Funeral services for Oscar P. Anderson, 89, who died Tuesday of last week at the Mapes Nursing home, were held Friday at the Barnard Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Sieglaff of the Hawarden Community church officiated with burial in Grace Hill cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born September 6, 1873, in Sweden. He came to the United States as a young man, settling at Lincoln, NE. In February, 1902 he married Minnie Nelson, and they farmed in Union County. She died in 1928.

For a number of years he served as custodian at Hawarden high school.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ellen Green of Oakland, CA., Mrs. Lillian McAdow of Manhattan, KS., Mrs. Irene Adams of Rapid City, SD., Mrs. Blanche Storts of Camanche, IA. and Mrs. Fern Garrett of Hawarden; three sons, Harold of Des Moines, Lawrence of Oakland, CA., and Leon of Hawarden; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
