Memorial services for Rollin G. Bass, 80, Des Moines, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Emerson United Methodist Church in Emerson. He died Thursday, February 27, 1997, at Overland Park, Kansas, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Sabetha, Kanas, on February 14. The family suggest memorials to West Des Moines United Church or Emerson United Methodist Church. For local information, contact Nelson Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Mr. Bass was born in Emerson and had farmed west of Red Oak for most of his life. He was very knowledgeable of soil conservation. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and formerly served on the board of the Iowa Farm Bureau. He was a voting delegate of the Iowa Farm Bureau. He was very active in the Methodist Church and served on many committees, both locally and at the state level. He was a long time member of the Red Oak Lions Club. He had lived in Des Moines for the past seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Bass of Des Moines, daughters, Mrs. Ron (Jan) Sears and Marjorie Bass both of Carlisle, and Mrs. Clay (Pauline) Grubb of Des Moines, Iowa, stepson, Matt Warren of Overland Park, Kansas, and 4 grandchildren.
