He was born August 21, 1918, in School Hill, son of the late John & Ottilia (Fessler) Brost. He attended school in School Hill.
Norman was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II, with the 19th Tank Battalion in the European Theater.
His first marriage was to Marion Kaderabek. She preceded him in death in 1950.
On August 20, 1977, he married Rita Stahl Lutzke. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2003.
Norman and his brother, Joseph co-owned Brost Food Market in School Hill for 48 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill and a life-time member of the American Legion, Wagner-Eberle-Sukowaty, Post #447 and VFW Post #8974. He also was a member of the School Hill Sportsman Club. Norman enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one sister, Marie (Donald) Driscoll, Osman; one sister-in-law, Jane Brost, Kiel; stepchildren, Verlin (Rose Ann) Lutzke, St. Nazianz, Elwin "Curly" (Karen) Lutzke, Manitowoc, Leon (Barb) Lutzke, St. Nazianz, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Miller; one brother, Joseph Brost; nephews, Jimmy & David Driscoll, John Brost; and step-daughter, Karen Pankratz.
The funeral Mass for Norman will be celebrated Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill with Rev. Michael Bigley and Deacon James Steffen officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Military services will be held at the cemetery immediately following the Mass.
