Sent overseas 10/1943. Took part in invasion of Normandy, serving in the paratroop infantry. Returned to England for rest and further training. On 9/171944 he took part in the invasion of Holland. Reported missing 11/5/1944. He was with 101st Airbourne Div., was reported wounded by shrapnel in October while defending a bridge in the Netherlands. It is believed that the first aid station where he was being treated was overrun by Germans. His remains were returned to Westfield for burial.
