The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

GREGSON, WILLIAM PILKINGTON. 2nd Lieutenant. Tank Corps. Born Huddersfield. Son of the late Mr W. P. Gregson of Preston and formerly of Springwood Avenue, Huddersfield. Employed at the Karrier Car Works, Huddersfield. Enlisted in the Duke of Wellington's Regiment in August, 1914. Was gazetted to the Tank Corps in January, 1918, after two and a half years service in France. Died of wounds, 18.10.1918, aged 27 years, Buried VADENCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 3, Row A, Grave 24.
