Connie was an outstanding athlete during his high school years, captain of three sports and best remembered for the 1935 Vermont State Football Championship game when he played quarterback without a helmet. He gained the most yards of any player and was voted the outstanding player. Teacher, Tony Wishinski created a trophy for Outstanding Athlete in Connie's honor in 1949.
On August 17, 1940 he married Rosalie Shambo in Windsor.
He enlisted in the Army on April 26, 1944 and was serving with the 304th Infantry 74th Division when he was hit by a "jumping Betsy" land mine, February 15, 1945.
He was survived by his parents, his widow, three sisters, and five brothers, three of whom were also in the service.
