Born in St. Petersburg Russia while her father was U.S. minister to the Court of Tsar Alexander I. Lizinka was named for her mother's friend, Russia's Empress Elizabeth Alexeievna.
Married James Percy Brown on April 25, 1839. Widowed in 1844.
On May 25, 1863, Lizinka married her first cousin, Lt. General Richard Stoddert Ewell in Richmond Virginia. General Ewell affectionately referred to her as "my wife, the widow Mrs. Brown".
Lizinka contracted typhoid fever and died on her Springhill, Tennessee estate on January 22, 1872. General Ewell also contracted typhoid and died 48 hours later.
