Briggsdale, Colo., April 22 -- Funeral service for Mrs. Joanna J. Welch, 85, pioneer Briggsdale woman who died April 15, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Van Vechten in Denver was held Saturday afternoon at Olingers in that city, interment at Crown Hill. Mrs. Welch came to Briggsdale more than twenty years ago with her husband, Augustus A. Welch and homesteaded a ranch northeast of town. For many years following the death of her husband she made her home with her only son, Otis Welch at Briggsdale. Besides this son, Mrs. Welch is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Goad of Alamosa, Mrs. Effie Carwile of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. E. Mizell and Mrs. Josephine Van Vechten of Denver and numerous grandchildren.
