Joseph "Joe" Harrell Wallace, 82, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
Joe was born in Covington County, AL. His father and mother moved to Pensacola in order to start their own dry cleaning business, Hence Wallace Dry Cleaners, beginning on Alcaniz Street in Pensacola.
Joe attended Pensacola High School and graduated in 1946. He lettered in baseball and was captain of the football team. Joe served in the US Army and after his tour in Japan was honorably discharged and then entered FSU.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Fauria Wallace; his parents, Jesse and Julia O. Gandy Wallace; and only son, Joseph H. Wallace, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Jeannine W. Martin and Kathleen W. Pfeiffer; a very special friend, Toni Rice, who provided support and caring at the time of need; grandchildren, Coby Wayne Manning (Gina) of Dallas, TX and Kelley Ann Manning of Pensacola; great-grandchildren, Sarah Grace Manning and Leah Jolie Manning.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until the Funeral Service to begin at 11:00am Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rick Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Frank Kubitz, Frank Cagle, Wayne Manning, Andy Roberts, Keenan Roberts and other friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Hicks Moore, Bobby Grice, Mitch Touart and other loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence, 10075 Hillview Road, Pensacola, FL 32514.
The family wants to give a special thanks to the staff of the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence.
