After Alice died, Arthur married the former Emma Florence Dillow, who survived, along with their children Leon, Charles, Arthur A., Dorothy, Catherine and month old Madeline.

Arthur was doing excavation work in Brunswick when he was buried under hundreds of pounds of collasped dirt. He suffered a spinal injury that paralyzed him and he died the following day. His first granddaughter was born only 12 days after he passed away.
Arthur is buried beside his first wife Alice. Emma, who remarried and died in 1944, is buried nearby.
