Selected for the armored forces, he received his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., with further training at Camp Campbell, Ky. He spent two weeks at Fort George Meade, Md., before going overseas in February 1944. He went first to England, and it was there that he was assigned to the Second Armored Division. 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Battalion.
