George Joseph Azur was born on March 21,1919 in Berlin,Coos County,New Hampshire in the family of Joseph M.Azur.
Joseph Azur his Wife and childeren were born in Syria.
Father Joseph was born about 1868.
George had three sibblings,one brother and two sisters, they all passed away.Parker abt. 1913, Eva abt.1916, Nicolina ? abt.1917 and George 21 March 1919.

The Azur Family moved from New Hampshire to Newport,Orleans County in the U.S. State Vermont were they lived at 22 Cottage Street.
George attended Grammar school and worked at a Dairy,processing dairy products..

George Joseph Azur enlisted in the U.S. Army on January,30,1942 in Rutland Vermont at the age of 22 years and 10 months. George Azur was single.
After the basic military training George Azur received a training as a technical soldier.
George was attached to the "G " Company of the 26th Infantry Regiment,1st Infantry Division.
The 1st Division Headquarters were in Fort Riley,Kansas.

*** According the I.D.P.F was George Azur Killed in action in Torfhaus,Hessen,Germany.
But a letter of his Commanding Officer Captain Beasor B. Walker stated that George was Killed In Action in Schierke,Hessen,Germany.
His Commanding Officer wrote the Azur Family: Ït was during bitter fighting that your son, heroically performing his duties as rifleman with his Company,was shot and killed by an enemy rifleman.
As his Commanding Officer,I want to assure you that he died as a soldier,fighting on the field of battle against the enemies of our Country.He was killed instantly with no suffering or lingering pain.

George Azur was buried in Breuna,Hessen(Germany) April 23,1945,Plot I ,Row 8, Grave 146.

In September 1948 , George J. Azur is reburied in the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, Plot SS,Row 12 ,Grave 290.

March 1949, George J . Azur is buried in his final resting place in the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, Plot D ,Row 21 , Grave 12.

George J. Azur was Posthumously awarded with the Purple Heart Medal.

He is lovingly remembered by those who knew him and his family.
