He was first reported missing in action in Germany. On April 16 his family received word that he had been killed in action April 6, 1945. He served with the 301st Infantry, 94th Division. He is buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery in Limburg, Netherlands.
He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He was predeceased by his mother, and survived by brothers, Ernest, Walter, Melvin, Alfred, and Charles, and sisters, Margaret, Evelyn Mrs. Charlotte Shepard and Mrs. Victor LaCourse.
