PFC. Cecil J. Gibbie, 19 year old Gowen Infantryman(2nd Rifle Grenader), was reported killed in action in Germany, April 4th serving the U.S. Army, C-Company,58th Infantry Battalion, 8th Armored Division. He was killed by a 'Burp Gun' Us soldier name for the MG42 german machine gun.
The war department notified his parents, Mr.& Mrs. John Gibbie, of Gowen. No details were given.
He entered service September 28,1943 & after more than 13 months training in this country at various camps he went overseas.
He would have been 20 years old May 10th. He attended Gowen School.
He leaves in addition to his parents, 4 brothers,
