Stanley entered military service on June 13, 1941, and served four months; was discharged after four months because of age limitations. After war was declared, Stanley was called back on January 28, 1942.

Sgt. Justice received his basic training at Camp Roberts, CA., later being transferred to Fort Lewis, WA, Fort Ord, CA, and Camp Pickett, VA., from which camp he was sent overseas, seeing action in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.

Sgt. Justice was killed in action in Italy on February 1, 1944.
