Daughter of Otto Giers and Sallie Hunter. Mrs. Hicks was named after her maternal grandfather, William Hunter. She was married to Edward D. Hicks IV on February 11, 1920 in Davidson County, TN.

Mrs. E. D. Hicks IV Dies; Rites Saturday

Mrs. Edward D. Hicks IV, of 148 Windsor Drive, died today at a local infirmary of a stroke.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. George's Episcopal Church conducted by the Rev. Julien Gunn, assistant rector of that church.

Entombment will be at the Hunter family mausoleum in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The former Hunter Giers, Mrs. Hicks, was the daughter of Otto Burkhart and Sallie Fee Hunter Giers. Born in Nashville, Mrs. Hicks attended Hume-Fogg High School and Ward Seminary and was graduated from George Peabody College.

She was member of Theta Phi high school sorority and Kappa Delta college sorority.

She was the widow of Edward Dickson Hicks IV, a founder of Dobson-Hicks Co., a wholesale seed company founded in 1926.

Mrs. Hicks was active in several civil and social circles.(paragraph edited)

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Memorial Fund, Bellevue Historical Society, Bellevue, or to charity.
