Missing In Action.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dusenberry of Novelty have received a telegram from the war department stating their son, Harold, is reported missing in action.

DECLARED OFFICIALLY DEAD

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dusenberry of Novelty Lose Son.

Pfc. Harold Dusenberry, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dusenberry of Novelty, who had been missing in action since Aug. 9, 1944, has been declared officially dead by the war department in an official notice to his wife, Mrs. Ila Mae Dusenberry, of Novelty.

Pfc. Dusenberry was inducted in the army Aug. 9, 1943. He was in the medical corps and received his training at Camp Barkley, Tex., and Fitzsimmons General Hospital, Denver, Colo. He was sent overseas in July, 1944, and was reported missing in action Aug. 9, 1944, after being overseas only a month.

The official notice sent his wife at the time he was reported missing said he was assisting in the evacuation of casualties near Lorient, France, when the vehicle in which he was riding was attacked by enemy machine gun fire, and no trace of him or the vehicle was found.

Pfc. Dusenberry was married to Miss Ila Mae Smoot of Hunnewell in February, 1940, they made their home in St. Louis for a time, but at the time of his induction Pfc. Dusenberry was engaged in farming with his father at Novelty. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a graduate of Hunnewell High School.

Besides his wife and his parents Pfc. Dusenberry is survived by three brothers, Pfc. Wade Dusenberry, who is in Germany, and was seriously wounded some time ago, and Kenneth and Dale Dusenberry at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Carl Burkhart of Hunnewell, Mrs. Carl Mayes of Hannibal and Anna Marie Dusenberry at home.

FOD-Finding of Death, in the absence of a recovered body, soldiers that were determined to be dead under Public Law 490. Made in cases, after at least one year from time of disappearance, when there was either conclusive proof that the person is dead or equally overwhelming evidence that the person could not have remained alive.

Death date I used was the same as day he was officially declared deceased.
