SUMTER, SC: Captain E. W. Moise, Jr., son of Mr, and Mrs, E. Warren Moise, and husband of the former Miss Frances White of this city, died of wounds received in action August 23 [1944] according to news brought the family here by his bother, Lieutenant Colonel Lenoir S. Moise, who has returned home after two years overseas.

Captain Moise was wounded and died in a hospital in France two days later, Colonel Moise said. For weeks the family had not received any information of Captain Moise after hearing he was wounded. The hospital he was in was bombed and destroyed a few days after Captain Moise's death and all records were lost.

Captain Moise, a Sumter high school and Clemson college graduate, entered the service from the reserve corps in February, 1942. His division was sent overseas in June and was stationed in England until it joined General Patton's Third army. He was attached to this army when wounded.

Captain Moise was an architect here before he entered the service.

Surviving are his widow, parents, a daughter, Martha, and three brothers, Colonel Lenoir Moise, Lieutenant Colonel Harold Moise, who is overseas in France, and Paul Moise of this city.
