Walter J. Abramski, the son of John and Pauline Abramski, was born in 1916 in New Jersey. He was a resident of Otsego County, New York, when he enlisted as a private at Fort Jay, Governor's Island, New York on July 10, 1941. He had completed two years of high school, and was employed as a carpenter's apprentice. He was single, without dependents, 5'11" tall, weighing 148 lbs.

SGT Abramski, service number 32098367, a member of the Catholic faith, assigned to the 58th Armored Field Artillery Battalion was killed in action at Bastogne, Belgium, on December 19, 1944. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and buried at Plot A Row 32 Grave 25 at the Ardennes American Cemetery at Neupré (Neuville-en-Condroz), near Liège, Belgium.
