In 1940 Sam Denton and his wife were living in Dallas, Texas, and Sam worked as a bookkeeper. They previously lived in Paris, Texas.

Pfc. Denton entered the service from Dallas, Texas. He died in Italy of wounds received in action with the 88th Infantry Division a few days before his death.

He was survived by his wife of Paris, Texas, three sisters, and four brothers. The brothers were Charles W. Denton, Dallas; Jack Denton, Brownfield; Lt. (jg) Tom Denton, on duty with the Naval Air Corps; and Cpl. Joe Denton, on duty with the Army Air Forces stationed in Florida. The sisters were Mrs. Jeff Whorton, McKinney; Mrs. Harry (Lavada) Evans, Paris; and Mrs. E. V. Carter, Dallas.
