David Macy was the son of Albert and Nancy (Wall) Macy. His wife was Mary Ann Patterson, and their daughter Caroline, was the wife of Volney T. Malott.
The Honorable David Macy was born on Dec. 25th, 1810 in North Carolina (New Garden, prob.). In 1820, he moved to Randolph County, Ind. Until 18 years he assisted to cultivate his father's farm. In 1825, he went to Richmond, Ind. to work at the millwright business. In 1832, he removed to New Castle, Henry Co. and commenced the practice of law. In 1830, he was elected to represent Henry Co. in the state legislature & was reelected in 1836. In 1838, he was appointed by the legislature of the prosecuting attorney for one of the judicial circuits of the state for the term of two years.

Although a birth right friend (Quaker), later in life he and his wife joined the Episcopal Church in Indiana (see her record.)
