PVT. RAY EDWIN ADAMS


Private Ray Edwin Adams drowned in France on August 17, 1944, according to a War Department message to his wife, Mrs. Agnes I. Adams, now of Chicago and formerly of Terre Haute. Private Adams was the son of Mrs. Stella Adams, of North Terre Haute. He was serving with an intelligence and reconnaissance unit in France.
Ray Edwin Adams was born on March 31, 1915 in Parke County, the fourth child of Lawrence Victor Adams and Lola Estella Micheal Adams.
On April 3, 1900, he married Agnes. Irene Rockwood. Mrs. Adams is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rockwood, R. R. 5.
Private Adams was employed here by the Fisher Cleaning Company and later traveled for Montgomery Ward, making his home with Mrs. Adams in Joliet, Illinois before he entered the service on October 16, 1943. He went overseas in May this year. Mrs. Adams is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rockwood, R. R. 5.
Private Adams is survived by the widow, his mother and two brothers, Fred Adams of Detroit, Michigan and Virgil L. Adams, stated at Camp Berkeley, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Blanche (Adams) Fisher.
Private Adams was buried in Normandy American Cemetery Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
