Mikado - Friends here were grieved Tuesday of last week when a telegram to Mr. John Mayes from Washington, D. C., brought the new of the death of his son, Charles, in France on November 3. He was killed in action.
Charles was the youngest son of Mrs. John Mayes and Mrs. Mayes of Mikado. He was born in Mikado and spent his youth there. Prior to entering the service he was employed in Lansing.
He is survived by his father, step-mother, three brothers: Joseph, John and James, and a married sister, Myrtle, of Adrian, Michigan.
