Sydney J. Berringer 1917 Bridgewater Bulletin

Falkland Ridge News Published: January 30, 1917.

The third memorial service since summer was held in the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, January 14, in memory of Sydney J. Berringer, another of our brave boys who was killed in action near the close of the old year. During the years that he resided with his sister, Mrs. John Kaulback, he was known as a young man with good habits, quiet, and courteous, liked by everyone. He answered the call of King and Country while in the West and went overseas last spring. Brother J. Webb conducted the service and spoke earnestly and eloquently of the necessity of every citizen "doing his bit." The members of the L.O.L. attended the service in regalia in honour of the second of their lodge to fall in battle. We extend our sympathy and respect to the three sisters, Mrs. John and Mrs. Stanley Kaulback and Mrs. Maud Mosher of Hastings who attended the service.
