Private Anderson was the son of Mr and Mrs Date Anderson of Haskell [Texas]. He was reared at Haskell and attended Texas Tech before he volunteered for service in December 1940. He was on the prison ship lost in October [Arisan Maru]"

He is also memorialized in the Haskell Cemetery in his hometown of Haskell, Texas.

Survived by his parents Dayton Anderson and Alpha Powers of Haskell, Texas, as well as six older siblings, Howell, Othella, Reba, Revere Hugh, Zelma, and Marquerite
