∼Born on August 30, 1904 in New York, he was the son of Albert and Mary Bruderer of Houston, Texas
Laurie joined the Navy on February 14, 1936. He was a Motor Machinist's Mate 1c (Service Number: 359 89 45) stationed aboard the
USS Triton (SS-201).
On December 8, 1941 off the coast of Wake Island they surfaced to recharge their batteries and saw smoke over the island. It was then that they were told of Pear Harbor.
On 13 March 1943, Triton was warned that three enemy destroyers including the Akikaze were in her area hunting American submarines.
Japanese records revealed on 15 March 1943, Japanese destroyers attacked a submarine northwest of Triton's assigned area and observed an oil slick, debris, and Items with American markings.
On 10 April 1943, Triton was reported overdue from patrol and presumed lost.
The Triton was a highly decorated sub and the subject of the 1957-58 TV series "The Silent Service". She fired the first torpedoes of WWII
Triton received five battle stars for World War II service and is on Eternally Patrol Lat.: 0 degrees, 09 minutes North; Longitude: 144 degrees, 55 minutes East
Laurie was survived by a brother Ralph Bruderer husband of Dorothy Bruderer, and two sisters Madeliene Ruth wife of Harold Brown and Mary Cathryn wife of Paul David Weyandt
