Alton served as a Flight Officer & Co-Pilot on B-25D #41-30211, 70th Bomber Squadron, 42nd Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Callahan County, Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 14, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Worth, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a motion picture projectionist and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25D #41-30211 took of, with a crew of 4, from Stirling Island, Solomon Islands on a test flight to test out the trim on the B-25. After takeoff they were not seen nor heard from again and are believed to have crashed into the sea, for an unknown reason, near Stirling Island.

It was also noted that 6 other B-25s did an immediate search for B-25D #41-30211 without results. The other B-25s also noted cumulus clouds and rain in the area at that time.

Alton died in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war.

He was previously awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
