27 March, 1942 embarked SS Luline at San Diego for movement overseas. 4 April, 1942 arrived Honolulu, Hawaii and assigned to B Company, Marine Barrarks, Pearl Harbor.
19 July 1942 assigned to the Marine Detachment on USS Hornet(CV 8). 17 August, 1942 left Pearl Harbor for the war zone. Participated in combat operations in the Solomon Islands. Killed in Action during the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands 26 October, 1942.
Buried at Sea.
