In total 687 men, including FM3C Acheson, were killed in action as a result of its sinking.
FM3C Acheson was declared killed in action and buried at sea. His name appears on the Tablets of the Missing, located in Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal posthumously.
