He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on May 29, 1941, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Sales Clerk and also as Married.

He became a POW of the Japanese Army in the "Fall Of The Philippines" in May, 1942.

Chester was held at an undisclosed POW Camp.

Chester later "Died Of Wounds" while being held by the Japanese.

His remains were not recovered.

Chester was awarded the Prisoner Of War Medal and the Purple Heart.
