Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until April 5, 1945.

Alan served as a Private & Cargo Crew Member on UC-64A (#43-5176), 68th Squadron, 433rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Lewis County, Missouri prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on August 30, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Alan was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" when his UC-64, which took off on a cargo mission out of Mokmer Drome, was seen by two other planes crashing for an unknown reason into the sea during the war.
