Albert was one of the first men to enlist, and was the first man to be killed from his home town on Barton Vermont. He was probably the youngest as well, as the newspapers suggest he misled the recruiters about his age. He was killed in the battle for Munda.
His home newspapers published a tribute to him with a picture of where he was first buried before being transferred to Manilla
