Funeral services for W. A. (Al) Davis, 84, will be held at Griffin Chapel at 3 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. J. M. Looney officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery at Malesus. The body will be at Griffin Funeral Home until time for the services.
Active pallbearers are to be Arthur B. Mainord, Chief Robert Mainord, W .0. Hart, Roy C. Davis, James G. Davis, C. M. Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be N. F. Warlick. J. W. Sawyer, Sr., J. V. Young, Wade Dismuke, W. G. Hearn, A. D. Houston, G. L. Rhodes, J. A. Day, R. R. Bond, C. W. Lauderbach.
All pallbearers are asked to meet at Griffin Funeral Home at 2:35 o'clock.
Mr. Davis died unexpectedly at 8 p. m. Friday. He lived at 121 N. Fairground St.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary E, Mainord; two sons, W. M. Davis of Jonesboro, Ark.; and L. R. Davis of Memphis; his brother, George L. Davis of Jackson; his sister, Mrs. Nannie Peters of Jackson; four grandchildren, Perry L. Davis, Richard E. Davis, Gerald W. Davis and Mrs. J. G. McDaniel, all of Jackson, and a great-granddaughter, Lynn McDaniel.
Born in Bastrop. Tex., Mr. Davis was moved to Madison County when he was two years old. He later engaged in farming and the dairy business until 25 years ago when he became a travelling salesman. At the time of his death he was salesman for Furst and McNess Co.
He was a member of the Wood-men of the World, and a Presbyterian.
