He died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002.
He was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Lubbock. He married Dorothy Dobyns on Jan. 18, 1945, in San Benito. He graduated from high school at Allen Academy in Bryan in 1941. He served in the Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.
He owned and operated D&S Distributors in Lubbock for 22 years from 1968 to 1990, when he retired. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mikki Lynn McClurg of Roseville, Calif.; two sons, Shields Brownie of Fort Worth and Scott Harlan of Lubbock; a sister, Helen Madonna Golightly of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
