Mr. Mayo, 67, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010. Born Oct. 31, 1942, to the late Carl Mayo and the late Norma Hull, Mr. Mayo was the older of two children. He grew up in Meridian and was set to celebrate his 50th high school reunion in September.
Mr. Mayo moved to Crystal Springs in 1970 and worked for Klumb Lumber before starting Magnolia Forest Products in 1972. He retired in 2006, after building the company into one of the most successful private companies in Mississippi.
Mr. Mayo loved the Lord, his family, friends as his dogs, Maggie and Buddy. He was a devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather and a loyal friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Helen Mayo of Crystal Springs; a daughter, Sherry Jackson and her husband, Francis, of Crystal Springs; four sons, David Mayo and his wife, Sheila, of Meridian, Larry Mayo of Terry, Eddie Easterling and his wife, Tessa, of Birmingham, Ala., and Jeff Easterling and his wife, Mandi, of Madison; a sister, Pat Foster of Mobile, Ala.; and his beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn Mayo, Brianna Mayo, Jessica Bridwell, Amber Jackson, Nathan Jackson, Hannah Jackson, Carson Easterling, Guy Easterling, Cassidy Easterling and Katie Easterling.
