WOODFIN – Edmund Henry Stickle, age 86, of Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center, died Thursday, March 26, 2009.

Mr. Stickle was born on March 16, 1923, in Morris County, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley J. and Elizabeth Hart Stickle, as well as his wife, Mildred Popovich Stickle who died in 2003.

Surviving are his children, Edmund H. Stickle, Jr., and wife Anna of Waxaw, Beth Stickle Schoenheit and husband Charles of Asheville, Timothy J. Stickle of Greensboro, Hilary Stickle of Inwood, WV, G. Logan Stickle and wife Tammy of Conover, his step-sister, Susan Seltenheim of Wayne, NJ, and several grandchildren.

He worked in the field of plastic injection and molding in the aerospace and other industries. During his retirement he became a master at restoring antique furniture and chair caning. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Mars Hill. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, NASCAR racing, and trout fishing. Known for his lively sense of humor, he made friends easily and never tired of teasing and bantering with almost everyone he came across.
His family will always deeply appreciate the love, grace and caring patience of his Emerald Ridge family.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. with Father Frederick M. Werth officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
