James Creed Thompson, 77, of 1510 Monroe St. died at 10:30 a.m. yesterday in Waynesboro Community Hospital.
Mr. Thompson was born in Nelson County, April 17, 1898, a son of the late E. Palestine and Hettie Davis Thompson.
He retired from the Waynesboro Du Pont Co. after 22 years of employment.Mr. Thompson was also a member of the Wintergreen Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lelia T. Thompson; two daughters, Mrs. McAuldman (Marion) Campbell of Roseland and Mrs. Page (Vivian) Grove of Waynesboro; two brothers, Wallace Thompson of Nellysford and Phillip Thompson of Waynesboro; one sister, Mrs. Henry (Bluma) Frazier of Nellysford; two granddaughters, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Wintergreen Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Shirley Estes and Phillip Forehand, with burial in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Hawthorne Falls, William L. Falls, J. Pearson Duncan, Jerry E. Falls, Kenneth Marshall, William L. Hughes, J. Wesley Truslow and Daniel C. Fields.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight in the Etter Funeral Home.The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
