Mary Ann married Elisha Congdon III about 1820 in CT. She was the mother of Elisha Congdon 1822-1894, Mary Ann born in 1824 and Thomas Sterry Congdon 1825-1896.

After her death, her husband remarried in Connecticut. Elisha moved his family west to the Michigan Territory about 1833 and settled in the Washtenaw County area. Elisha and his brother, James Congdon, were the founders of Chelsea Village in Washtenaw County.

Mary Ann was the daughter of Consider and Mary (nee: Norman) Sterry of Connecticut.

Mary died in Connecticut and was buried there. A gravestone honoring her as Elisha's wife was placed in Oak Grove Cemetery.
